  1 What is MyDialog?
MyDialog is the first ever moblog in Sri Lanka, which should not be missed by anyone.
 
       
  2 What is MyDialog Self Care?
yDialog Self Care encapsulates the online services offered to Dialog GSM subscribers. Online payments, online bill viewer, DiaText are few of the essential services provided.
 
       
  3 How do I register/sign up?
Just click on the Join or Sign up! links to get started. If you would like more information on the registration process take the MyDialog Tour, which will guide you through this process.
 
       
  4 I don’t get redirected to MyDialog after I complete the MyDialog Self Care registration process
If you don’t get redirected, type www.mydialog.lk in a new browser window and then use the username and password you registered with MyDialog Self Care to access your account.
 
       
  5 How do I leave MyDialog/delete my account?
You need to contact the Dialog Telekom Customer Service Centre to get your account deleted.
 
       
  6 How do I Login via SMS/MMS?
To Login via SMS/MMS send the following message to 707:
LOGIN
 
       
  7 How do I Logout via SMS/MMS?
To Logout via SMS/MMS send the following message to 707:

Problems During Signing in
 
  1 I’ve forgotten my password, what do I do?
Click the forgot password link and follow the instructions provided within the MyDialog Self Care forgot password section.

You need to register with MyDialog before you can start enjoying all its features*.

My Profile
   
  1 How do I edit/update my details?
Under each section (Basics, General, Favourites) there is a link titled ‘Edit this section’; click on it. Fill in the data fields, and then press the Save Profile button to save the changes, or press the Cancel button to return to the My Profile page.
 
       
  2 How do I change my password?
You can only change your password through MyDialog Self Care. Just log in to MyDialog Self Care using your MyDialog username and password, and then click on My Profile and use the Change Password option to change your password.
 
       
  3 How do I change My Profile Photo? (Via Web)
You could either use a photo you have uploaded already, or else upload a new one through the web or via MMS. Now click on the My Gallery link in the main menu at the top of your page. Once you enter, click on the ‘Set as profile photo’ link/icon underneath the required photo/picture.
 
       
  4 How do I change My Profile Photo? (Via MMS)
To change your profile photo via MMS send the following message to 707:
MYPHOTO <Photo Comments>
{PHOTO Attachment}

Notes:
Photo size should not exceed 1MB
Photo comments are optional
Photo file formats to be GIF or JPG
 
       
  5 How do I change my Avatar?
Click on the 'Change Avatar' link in your My Profile page. Once you have decided what your preferred Avatar is, you can select it by just clicking on the respective image.
 
       
  6 How do I find new Friends?
Click on the 'Search Friends', link on the top menu. You will be directed to the Search Friends page. Here you will be able to search for new Friends using various search criteria
(for example Username, Nickname, Location etc).
 
       
  7 How do I set/change my Cool Pals?
Click on the 'Set your cool pals' link. Once you are there, select (check) the check boxes of the friends you would like to have as your Cool Pals and then press update to set them.
(Maximum number of Cool Pals is limited to 5)
 
       
  8 How do I join a Public Group?
Click on the 'Join public groups' link. A list of available public groups will be displayed. Click on the 'Join Group' link to join it.
 
       
 
My Friends
   
  1 How do I add someone as a Friend? How do I send friend requests?
Go to the profile of the user you want to add as a friend, by clicking on his/her profile photo. Click on the ‘Add as a Friend’ link to send a friend request to that user. Once he/she accepts your request, the two of you will be friends.
 
       
  2 How do I add a DiaText friend?
Click on the 'My Friends' link in the main menu at the top of the page. Now a sub-menu will be displayed, click on the 'Add DiaText Friend' link. Enter your friend’s Dialog phone number (together with a Nickname) and press the Add button.
 
       
  3 How do I check the status of my friend requests?
You can check the status of your friend requests by clicking on the Incoming Requests and Outgoing Requests sub-menus that come under the My Friends menu. You can Accept or Reject incoming requests, and also Remind or Cancel outgoing requests by pressing the respective buttons associated with a particular friend request in the Incoming Request and Outgoing Request sections respectively.
 
       
  4 How do I Block another user? (Via Web)
Go to the profile of the user you would like to Block, by clicking on his/her profile photo. Now click on the ‘Block <Nickname>’ link available underneath that particular user’s profile photo.
 
       
  5 How do I Block another user? (Via SMS/MMS)
To Block a user via SMS/MMS send the following message to 707:
BLOCK <User ID>

Note:
<User ID>: This can be found opposite the user’s Nickname, and is at the top right hand corner of the screen as seen by you.
 
       
  6 How do I view a friend’s details? (Via SMS/MMS)
To view a friend’s details via SMS/MMS send the following message to 707:
FRIEND <User ID>

Note:
(You require the User’s ID for this. This can be found opposite the user’s Nickname, and is at the top right hand corner of the screen as seen by you)
 
       
  7 How do I create a friend circle?
Click on the Circles sub-menu within the My Friends menu. Enter the name of the circle in the box next to the title ‘Circle Name’ (found in the Manage Circles section), and then press the Create button found at the other end of the box.
 
       
  8 How do I add friends to a circle?
Click on the Circles sub-menu within the My Friends menu. From your dropdown list of circle names (found in the Manage Circles section), find the one you require. Select the friends from the bottom of the page (by checking the respective check boxes) and click on the Update button to add the selected friends to the required circle.
 
       
  9 How do I view the members of one of my friend circles?
Click on the 'My Friends' link in the main menu at the top of the page, and Select the circle you wish to view from the Circle drop down menu.
 
       
  10 How do I comment/rate/report another user’s profile? (Via Web)
Go to the profile of the required user by clicking on his/her profile photo. Click on the ‘Leave a Comment’, ‘Rate <Nickname>’, or ‘Report Abuse’ links, and then follow the instructions that are provided to complete the Commenting, Rating or Reporting to Admin action successfully.

Note:
You can only rate another user’s profile once.
 
       
  11 How do I comment on another user’s profile? (Via SMS/MMS)
To comment on another user’s profile via SMS/MMS send the following message to 707:
CMNT PROFILE <User ID> <Comment Text>

Note:
(You require the User’s ID for this. This can be found opposite the user’s Nickname, and is at the top right hand corner of the screen as seen by you)

Entry size limited to 1 SMS/MMS.
 
       
  12 How do I rate another user’s profile entry? (Via SMS)
To rate another user’s profile entry via SMS; send the following message to 707:
RATE PROFILE <User ID> <Rating (1 to 5)>

Note:
<User ID> is the ID of the intended recipient of that particular Rating value, which can be found opposite the user’s Nickname, and is at the top right hand corner of the screen as seen by you.
<Rating (1 to 5)> is the rating value. Enter only the required numerical value. 5=Great.
You can only rate a profile once.
 
       
 
Gallery
   
  1 How do I upload a media file? (Via Web)
Click on the 'Gallery' link in the main menu at the top of the page. And then click on the Upload Media sub-menu. You will now be asked to select the media type (Photo, Audio, or Video). Afterwards enter the Album the file needs to be loaded into, together with all the other details that are required. Then attach the file and press the Save button.

(Alternatively, you can use the 'Upload your media' link that is available under the My Home, and My Profile menus, as this will direct you to the same location)

Notes:
Media file size should not exceed 500kB
Photo file formats to be GIF or JPG
Audio file formats to be MP3 or WAV
Video file formats to be AVI, WMV or 3GP
 
       
  2 How do I upload a media file? (Via MMS)
To upload a media file via MMS, send the following message to 707:
MEDIA <Description>
{MEDIA file Attachment}

Notes:
Media file size should not exceed 1MB
Photo file formats to be GIF or JPG
Audio file formats to be MP3 or WAV
Video file formats to be AVI, WMV or 3GP
 
       
  3 How do I create a new media album? (Via Web)
Click on the Gallery link in the main menu at the top of the page. And then click on the New Album sub-menu. Give the Album a name, and describe it briefly (optional). If you wish to have a cover image for the album you can do so by providing a link to the required image in the ‘Album image’ field (a default image will be set as the cover image if this field is left blank). Finally click ‘Save’ to create the album, or click ‘Cancel’ to cancel the process.
 
       
  4 How do I view another user’s media? (Via Web)
Go to the profile of the user you wish to visit by clicking on his/her profile photo. Click on the link titled ‘Media’ that is next to the user’s ID. Now the files in this user’s Gallery will be displayed.
 
       
  5 How do I view/retrieve media files? (Via SMS/MMS)
To view/retrieve a media file via SMS/MMS, send the following message to 707:
GETMEDIA <Entry ID>

Note:
<Entry ID> is the media file ID for that particular media file, which is found below the file thumbnail.
 
       
  6 How do I comment/rate/report another user’s media files? (Via Web)
Go to the profile of the required user by clicking on his/her profile photo. Click on the link titled ‘Media’ that is next to the user’s ID. Now the files in this user’s Gallery will be displayed. Three buttons titled Comment, Rate, and Report will be displayed, when you click the thumbnail you require. Click on the button you require, and then follow the instructions that are provided to complete the action successfully.

Note:
You can only rate a media file once.
 
       
  7 How do I comment on another user’s media file? (Via SMS/MMS)
To comment on another user’s media file via SMS/MMS send the following message to 707:

<Entry ID> is the media file ID for that particular entry, which is found below the thumbnail image.

  8 How do I rate another user’s media file? (Via SMS)
To rate another user’s media file via SMS; send the following message to 707:

Note:
<Entry ID> is the media file ID for that particular entry, which is found below the image.
<Rating (1 to 5)> is the rating value. Enter only the required numerical value. 5=Great.
 
       
 
 
My Blog
   
  1 How do I create a blog entry? (Via Web)
Click on the My Blog link in the main menu at the top of the page. And then click on the New Blog Entry sub-menu. A text editor will be opened. Enter the Title and the Text (attach a photo if needed), and then click the Save button to upload the entry. The Clear button allows you to clear the Text field, whilst the Browse button could be used find the required photo attachment.
 
       
  2 How do I create a blog entry? (Via SMS/MMS)
To upload a blog entry via SMS/MMS, send the following message to 707:
BLOG <title> <blog text>

Note:
Entry size limited to 1 SMS/MMS. If you choose to send an MMS, then you have the option of attaching an image.
 
       
  3 How do I search for a blog entry?
Click on the My Blog link in the main menu at the top of the page. On the top left hand side of the screen you will see a small search section with the title ‘View blogs by’ provided. Select the month and year you require, and then press the Search button to commence your search.
 
       
  4 How do I view another user’s blog entry? (Via Web)
Go to the profile of the user you wish to visit by clicking on his/her profile photo. Click on the link titled ‘Blog’ that is next to the user’s ID. Now the last 3 blog entries of the user will displayed. Only the first few sentences of the each entry will be shown, therefore the blog entry could be expanded (if not already done so) by clicking on the title of the required entry.
 
       
  5 How do I view another user’s blog entry? (Via SMS/MMS)
To view another user’s blog entry via SMS/MMS, send the following message to 707:
GETBLOG <Entry ID>

Note:
<Entry ID> is the Blog ID for that particular entry, which is found at the top left hand corner of the entry.
Only the first 160 characters of the entry will be returned via SMS and images will not be sent back.
 
       
  6 How do I comment/rate/report another user’s blog entry? (Via Web)
Go to the profile of the required user by clicking on his/her profile photo. Click on the link titled ‘Blog’ that is next to the user’s ID. Now the last 3 blog entries of the user will displayed. Click on the title of the required entry. Three buttons titled Comment, Rate, and Report will be displayed. Click on the button you require, and then follow the instructions that are provided to complete the action successfully.

Note:
You can only rate a blog entry once.

My Messages
   
  1 How do I send a message to another user? (Via Web)
Go to the recipient’s profile page and then click on the ‘Send Message’ link, or click on the My Messages link in the main menu, and then click on the Compose Message sub-menu item. When the Message Composer is displayed, enter the recipient’s Nickname in the ‘To’ field, the message in the ‘Message’ field, and an image file location in the ‘Attachment’ field if required. Now select your preferred options from the, ‘Type’ and ‘Pay With’ drop down menus and click on the Send button to send the message.
 
       
  2 How do I send a message to another user? (Via SMS/MMS)
To send a message to another user, send the following message (SMS/MMS) to 707:
MSG <User ID> <SMS/MMS/Web> <message>

Note:
<User ID> is the ID of the intended recipient of that particular message. This can be found next to the user’s Nickname, which is at the top left hand corner of the screen as seen by you.
<SMS/MMS/Web> is the format the message will be delivered in to the recipient
 
       
  3 How do I send a message to a friend circle?
Click on the Circles sub-menu within the My Friends menu. A list of existing friend circles will be shown. Now click on the Envelope icon to send a message to the entire circle. The rest of the steps are as per the How do I send a message to another user? (Via Web)

Alternatively, click on the Compose Message sub-menu within the My Messages main menu, or the ‘Compose’ link available on the My Messages main page to go to the message composer window. The rest of the steps are as per the How do I send a message to another user? (Via Web)
 
       
  4 How do I post a message within a public group?
Once you arrive at the homepage of the public group you require (either using the Public Groups link in the main menu or by clicking on the image of the group which will be displayed in the Groups section when you are in your My Home, or My Profile pages) click on the ‘Make a new post’ link. Once you have entered your message click on the Save button to upload the message, on the Clear button to clear the text editor and enter your message again, or the Cancel button to cancel the upload process.

Note:
You need to join the public group before you can start to post messages within it.
Images could be attached to the posted message, and the size should not exceed 500kB.
Image file formats to be GIF or JPG.
 
       
  5 How do I reply to a message that was posted within a public group?
Each message posted within a public group has a link titled ‘Replies (x)’ (where x is the number of replies sent to this message). Click on this link, and then in the page that is displayed subsequently click on the ‘Post a reply’ link. Once you have entered your reply message click on the Save button to upload the message, or on the Clear button to clear the text editor and enter your message again, or the Cancel button to cancel the upload process.

Note:
You need to join the public group before you can start to reply to messages that have been posted within it.
Images could be attached to the posted message, and the size should not exceed 500kB.
Image file formats to be GIF or JPG.
 
       
  6 How do I set my Alert options? (via Web)
To change your Alert settings, click on the ‘My Home’ menu option that’s available at the top of the page. Once you arrive at the ‘My Home’ page click on the Settings icon. Now you can set/change your Message Settings and also your Alert Settings according to your preferences.
 
       
 
Public Groups
   
  1 How do I view All the available Public Groups?
Click on the Public Groups link in the main menu at the top of the page. The latest Public Groups to be created will be displayed for the user. Now click on the All Public Groups sub-menu, and a list of all the available groups will be displayed.
 
       
  2 How do I find out a bit more about a Public Group that interests me?
Once you’ve got a list of all the groups available in MyDialog, you can simply click on the link titled ‘More’ that is next to each group, or the image of that group to find out more.
 
       
  3 How do I join a Public Group?
You could use the method described in the My Profile help section. Alternatively once you’ve got to the homepage of the group, click on the ‘Join Group’ link, or if you clicked on the ‘More’ link here, then you can click on the ‘Join Group’ link on the next page that comes up.
 
       
 
Points
   
  1 How much does it cost to send an SMS/MMS from my MyDialog account?
It will cost 10 points for you to send an SMS from the web, and 20 points to send an MMS.
 
       
  2 How can I earn points?
You will receive 50 points once when you login to MyDialog using the web.

Note:
The points are ONLY valid for that particular day.

You can also earn points by uploading blog entries or media files via MMS. You receive 10 points each for each uploaded entry/media file.
 
       
  3 How do I purchase points? (via Web)
To buy points, click on the ‘My Home’ menu option that’s available at the top of the page. Once you arrive at the ‘My Home’ page click on the dCash icon. Now you can select the number of points you wish to buy and the Dialog GSM account that is to be debited for the purchase.

Note:
You need to have a Dialog GSM account (pre-paid or post-paid) to purchase points at present.
